CCCAM: Hidden Treasures
Classics Preserved in the Shadows of War
The newest exhibit at the Classic Car Club of America Museum, right here on the campus of Gilmore Car Museum, is called "Hidden Treasures - Classics Preserved in the Shadows of War", and will tell the stories of three Full Classics that were intentionally hidden away in various parts of Europe to keep them from being seized by invading forces. The cars include a 1938 Packard Twelve which was hidden at an estate in France, a 1939 Buick hidden in the basement of a furniture factory in Denmark, and a 1931 Duesenberg hidden under a haystack in a barn in Italy. Hidden Treasures re-creates the environments in which these vehicles were concealed in order to tell their stories of preservation and survival in a more compelling way.
