FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACTS: Bob Johnson, 651-257-1715 / Dennis Garrett, 734-536-8007
The only known surviving “Road Race Lincoln,” a 1954 Lincoln Capri, will be the highlight of the 2nd Annual Lincoln Homecoming. The car is on loan from the National Automobile Museum/Harrah Collection, where it is part of the museum’s permanent collection.
The 2nd Annual Lincoln Homecoming will held August 10-14, 2016. It is expected to draw hundreds of Lincoln enthusiasts and their beloved automobiles. The homecoming will be based in Kalamazoo, Michigan with tours, banquets and events throughout nearby southwestern Michigan. Another highlight of the homecoming will be the appearance of Andrew Layton. Andrew has just completed his new book Ray Crawford - Speed Merchant that chronicles the life of the famed road racer. Ray was the pilot of the 1954 Lincoln that won the 1954 PanAmericana Road Race and Andrew will be available all day to meet with enthusiasts and sign copies of his new book.
Saturday evening Andrew will talk further about Mr. Crawford’s accomplishments and present an exclusive 45-minute video that he has compiled from actual in-car footage of the 1954 race. Ray Crawford was one of the earliest adopters of an in-car camera and his priceless footage will be a thrill for all that see it.
The homecoming weekend will also include a Lincoln-Only car show on Saturday, August 13 at the Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum (LMCHM), which is located on the campus of the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. For maximum fun the show will be a “Show and Shine” type event with no formal judging. There will awards for Best of Show, Best of Decade and Best of Tours, all voted on by the participants. New this year, the LMCHM will implement a Ladies Choice Best of Show Award.
The homecoming meet will be open to all current members of any of the four Lincoln clubs. Any Lincoln owner is also invited to register and attend this grand event.
Finally, the owners of any Ford Motor Company-manufactured product are invited to show their vehicle on Sunday, August 14. Anyone is welcome to show their Ford, Edsel, Mercury or Lincoln vehicle. No matter whether it is all original or one that has been hot rodded or customized, it will be admired by all on Sunday, the 14th.
