Free Admission for All Visitors Presenting a Museum Day Live! Ticket on September 28, 2013
Gilmore Car Museum – America’s Signature Collection – of Hickory Corners, Michigan will open its doors free of charge on Saturday, September 28, 2013, as part of Smithsonian Magazine’s Ninth Annual Museum Day Live! A nationwide event, Museum Day Live! Offers free admission to visitors presenting a Museum Day Live! ticket at any participating museum or cultural institution.
Inclusive by design, Museum Day Live! represents Smithsonian’s commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone, giving museum across all 50 states the opportunity to emulate the admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution, which is the world’s largest museum and research complex consisting of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoological Park, and nine research facilities. Last year’s event drew over 400,000 participants across the United States, and this year’s event expects record-high participation.
“We are pleased to be participating in this nationwide affair once again,” said Museum Executive Director, Michael Spezia. “Last year, the Museum welcomed nearly 200 visitors as part of the Museum Day Live! event and we look forward to another successful experience this year, committed to making the heritage of the American automobile accessible to everyone, free of charge.”

TOP FIVE car museums and was recently listed as Michigan’s #1 Greatest Historic Auto Attraction by Pure Michigan. Walk right up to history and experience nearly 400 extraordinary, vintage and collector vehicles and motorcycles from all eras, all on display in over a dozen vintage buildings and located on a 90-acre Historic Campus.
Exhibits range from the early cars of the 1890s to the fabulous Duesenbergs and Hudsons, “American Legends: Hot Rods & Customs” to automobiles built in the “Other Motor City – Kalamazoo,” to the largest museum ever dedicated solely to the Model A Ford. Also featured will be Dust Bowl & Great Migration vehicles of the ’20s and ’30s, the elusive 1948 Tucker, vintage Pedal Cars, Walt Disney Studio’s “Gnome- Mobile” and much, much more. Eat lunch in our authentic 1941 Blue Moon Diner and check out the authentic re-creation of a 1930s Shell Gas Station, where gas is always 18 cents a gallon.
