The first concert of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Summer Festival.

The Kalamazoo Symphony kicks off our celebration of summer with a concert featuring renowned saxophonist Branford Marsalis performing works of John Williams and Claude Debussy. After the intermission, let us entertain you under the sunset with a symphonic fairy tale, as the orchestra performs Rimsky-Korsakov’s "Scheherazade," the popular Russian romantic symphony based on the "Thousand and One Nights."

Branford Marsalis is a three-time GRAMMY AWARD® winning saxophonist, band leader, featured classical soloist, and a film and Broadway composer, earning a citation by the National Endowment for the Arts as a Jazz Master and an avatar of contemporary artistic excellence.
